about

After the break-up of the band Hello Bamboo and their last gig in December 2016, lead-singer, Adam Kengle launched a solo career and immediately head out on what was supposed to be a world tour.

With no original material of his own he tried to continue playing hello bamboo song's on his own. However, due to complex legal arrangements with the other members of hello bamboo, Adam was only able to play and record versions of the songs which do not contain the original instruments, so he was effectively banned from playing guitar.

The first night of the tour was booked for the Royal albert hall and the performance was to be piano versions of classic hello bamboo songs.

Kengle was quoted at the time as saying that he "...wanted to create stripped down versions of the songs so that people could appreciate the musicology of them and I also wanted the platform to be able to explain some of the meanings behind the songs that had been lost over the years and misinterpreted."

Music critics at the time called Kengle's explanations of the songs "over inflated, self indulgent and pretentious".

Towards the end of Hello Bamboo, the music and shows had become more and more chaotic and noise based. Kengle was quoted as stating that he was "...sick of the expectation of the chaos and the "sho's" and I want to prove myself as a serious musician". Yet the music press slated his efforts and a number of negative reviews labelled the tour as "career suicide". After the first night and the poor reviews in the press, the rest of the tour was cancelled.

Pitchfork reviewer - "ABSOLUTE SHITE" 3/10

Only now, 6 years later, has the recording of this one off event been made available to the public.
