In July 2021, I had an idea for an album which featured 15 x 15 second songs. I posted on the Wig Strap facebook page for song suggestions and collected 15 song titles from 15 different people. I then set about writing whatever first came to my mind for each title.

I wanted the tracks to stand alone on their own and together give the listener a similar experience to that of surfing through the radio stations, hearing short pieces of songs before flicking on, searching for something you might like.

The results are interesting as the people providing song title ideas had no idea what the purpose was, nor did they provide any background or further information on what their idea for a song was, whether that be musical style or subject matter. The songs then represent a sort of musical word association, where I have imagined what that song title could be. I purposely tried not to over think the whole thing, and just knock ideas out as quickly as possible.

Perhaps the album also is a reflection on the times we are living in, social media and attention spans being short (especially for local or unknown artists). Can you spare 15 seconds to listen to a song? How about 3:45 for a whole album?
